There's something so alluring about stores in rural parts of the developing world. The mass-market Unilever/P&G onslaught has gained a certain foothold for sure but the care and attention given the products always catches my eye. There are fewer sizes, fewer choices, fewer everything but it's just right.
I think I've gotten in trouble for making these or similar claims in the past. I'm not making a political statement. I'm not trying to take a stand. In this case, I was attracted to the same thing I always love, put two photos next to each other, and shared it. Read into it what you will.
Here's an earlier post on the same subject from early 2007. May I Help You?
Make pictures, shop for what you need.

I wish we had that here in the US, or the more 'consumer driven and populated' countries. I feel spoiled whenever I go to a store to shop for groceries and seeing so much different choices in front of me. I do enjoy the idea that you've only one brand of soap, oil, etc. It would make life a lot easier and I need not worry about which 'brand' is more superior over the other.
Even though I do tend to feel that way when shopping, I can't help but entertain the idea that the better brand doesn't necessarily always justify it being 'better.' But, that's just me.
Seconding what StuntK said...every time I hit one of the big-box stores near me, I can't help but feel uncomfortable or weirded out by the place. Something about all that stuff in one place seems unnatural. I thought we were supposed to have to work a little harder for our food?
But what if that one brand of soap gives you a rash?
Neat shots. Cool blog. Thanks.
