Off we go.

It seems my book has gone on sale ahead of schedule and WATCHMEN fan sites are abuzz with lame snapshot reproductions, opinion, and critique of my images.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's all very exciting and flattering to think that my images are being seen so far and wide and in such a way that encourages discussion. To say nothing of the lovely 200 page coffee-table book. Just today Empire Magazine gave it five out of five stars. Holy cow!

Elsewhere, there's a transcription of an interview I conducted with one particular fan site that, for those with a little more time on their hands, can read here He also uses legit images. Not crappy glare-strewn Sony Erickson snapshots.

The subsequent discussion borders on the surreal. It's almost like this Clay Enos guy is someone other than me.

A Bush Era Photo Analysis

The New York Times has a fabulous piece from Errol Morris and friends doing a photo analysis of the Bush era.

1-20-09

It wasn't a photogenic event from the middle of the mall but I knew I could eek out something later. I had a vision and it went something like this shot. Yes, it's cropped. Yes, it's photoshopped. That's the vision I had. Never say never.

As for the event, it was cold and lovely. The jumbotrons were out of sync by four seconds, crowd management was terrible and despite all that, I wouldn't have been anywhere else but the National Mall that day.

Make pictures. Be there.

White Insight

A coupe photo-related stories and alike have caught my attention of late. The first is from a video project forwarded my way of folks talking about wisdom. Aside from it being a lovely idea, it looks great. Click on the "Making of" link to hear a wonderfully articulate and thoughtful reasoning of using a white background for portraiture.

I couldn't agree more.

I posted this photo just to take up some space and share a photo. It has nothing to do with "wisdom."

And almost seconds after I started this post word of painter Andrew Wyeth's death appeared on my browser's news page. He has the most amazing face in the video. I suspect most would agree. RIP.
