Attention Los Angelenos!

It's a little last-minute but I'm happy to report that I will be appearing at the West coast's largest comic store, Meltdown Comics, (7522 Sunset Blvd) in Hollywood this Thursday from 6 to 8PM. They're proudly serving and selling Nite Owl Dark Roast and I'll be signing my Portraits book, movie posters and whatever else someone wants me to sign. I've got silver and black sharpies for the occasion.

Bring it, buy it, I'll sign it.

Additionally, the PR folks from Warner Brothers will be handing out tickets to an advance screening of Watchmen so there's a good chance you'll see the movie before your friends and most of the world.

Come one, come all. It's going to be fun.

Nite Owl Coffee

There are only a few days left to win tickets to the premiere of Watchmen on March 3rd. All you need to do is buy a can of Nite Owl Dark Roast and you're automatically entered to win.

I know this isn't exactly photo-centric but I'm trying to share the spotlight with my Organic Coffee Cartel. Plus, on the other side of the can, my black and white portrait of Nite Owl fills the space.

Cut a guy some slack. I need to sell these bad boys.

Make pictures and good luck!

A Record

I'm thrilled to be part of a little Time Inc. publishing record. Entertainment Weekly has never done six covers of the same issue before. That is until today's release of the six-cover Watchmen issue.

It's an honor to think all the photos (with the slight exception of Dr. M) are mine.

Check out the gallery here.

Unsung Heroes

I received this from one of the folks who worked as an extra during the filming of Watchmen. I am humbled and grateful.

"I wanted to thank you for your comments made in your slashfilm.com interview where you mentioned the extras (you photographed for the book) as the unsung heroes of WATCHMEN. I was fortunate enough to work as an extra on the film for most of the New York street stuff and Dr. Manhattan's interview and can say that most (not all, but most) of the extras working on the film, myself included, were ecstatic to be there and were willing to do whatever we could to make every scene just that much better.

As one of the resident WATCHMEN experts, it fell to me to show folks back in the holding tent after a scene where that scene was in the novel. People were excited about working on the film - even those who knew nothing about the novel starting out. The enthusiasm spread like wildfire. And continued to spread. Extra were still talking about the experience weeks and months after the end of shooting.

So, again, thanks for mentioning us in relationship to your great photos. Like Zack, Debbie, the crew, and the actors, we worked hard to make the film as great as it had the potential to be. As we extras so often receive no thanks for our efforts, your comments are all the more appreciated."

The photo above is a random extra. Odds are he isn't who wrote this note to me.

/Film Interview

David Chen did a spontaneous hallway-flipcam interview about my Watchmen Portraits book and the film at this past weekend's NYC Comic-con. Check it out here.

PDN, Avedon and Me.

I am proud to share this story from PDN that tells some of the back-story of my book. I love the fact that I don't see a dime from sales is in there. Enjoy.
