Wired.com, Me and You

The good people at Wired.com posted a video of me shooting Streetstudio-style in San Francisco last month. The video is a lovely distillation of ideas and strategies for other similarly motivated folks to take up their cameras and get to it making portraits.

I spent all day in Kansas City last week sharing many of the same concepts but seeing it distilled into just a couple minutes is really fun. I'm grateful to Wired.com producer Annaliza Savage and her crew.

Proposed Vespa Route

So with any luck and a certain amount of fast and furious organizing, I'm headed across the country on a Vespa. I've got worked lined up on Zack Snyder's next film so it seems only logical to take off on a little domestic adventure between now and then. It's looking like Vespa is on board and with their support, Apple Stores galore inviting me to speak, and my own quest for local and organic food, the next month and half is going to be chock full of fun. ;-)

A website and various goodies await. Stay tuned. For now, this map has my imagined route in red. Vancouver is my destination. As always, I'm open to suggestions, just put them in the comments section.

Spread19

So I'm digging around my archives in preparation for Saturday's seminar at Kansas City's Digital Labrador and it occurred to me that I've been tweeting more than blogging lately. Apparently I'm not alone either.

Regardless, I stumbled into this mock spread that I made years ago as I was putting together an early version of my portfolio. The three girls on the left were taken in Caracas and the two on the right were snapped in Punta Del Este, Uruguay. Both shoots shared a perfect quality of light and wonderful spontaneous vibe. It seems only fitting that they should go together much after the fact. Spreads are an interesting exercise in allowing photographs to talk to teach other.

So that's that. I haven't forgotten this blog. In fact, plans are coming together for a Vespa-driven cross-country trip that should see me blogging almost daily. Fingers crossed.
